5 Best Beach Clubs in Cozumel Mexico

#1: Mr. Sanchos Beach Club

This is one of the most famous beach clubs in Cozumel and the most crowded, especially during the high season. The beach club offers pristine white sand surrounded by a jungle of palm trees and an all-inclusive option ($68), which provides access to the beach, two pools, a beach chair, and unlimited food and drinks from the three on-site bars and restaurants. $68 USD for all you can eat and drink… that's a deal. À la carte passes (pay as you go) are also available.

This has made it onto my list of the best beach clubs in Cozumel because it is one of my favorite beach clubs to spend an entire day at. Between the shaded pool, the abundance of palm trees everywhere, unlimited food access, and the sandy beach running along the entire length of it, Sanchos Beach Club has everything I need.

Distance from Downtown: 22 minutes by car. Riding a bicycle is not recommended.

Other Activities: Shopping, snorkeling, kayaking, parasailing, horseback riding, ATV touring, and jet skiing are all available for an additional fee.

Note: This is a popular spot for cruise ships, so if you prefer a less crowded experience, be sure to check which days have the fewest cruise ships docked nearby.

#2: Paradise Beach Club:

Surrounded by palm trees, lush greenery, and turquoise blue water, Paradise Beach Club lives up to its name. This is the perfect spot to spend an entire day without needing to leave for anything. Food, drinks, lounging, and even water activities for children are all available in one place. This has made it onto my list of the best beach clubs in Cozumel because it truly makes me feel like I am spending the day in paradise—like I am lounging in my only little slice of heaven.

With a daybed costing $70 USD per day, I suggest booking an all-inclusive pass for only $68 USD, which includes access to the beach, heated pools, lounge chairs and umbrellas, unlimited food and drinks, and free Wi-Fi. À la carte options are also available.

Distance from Downtown: 20 minutes by car. Riding a bicycle is not recommended.

Other Activities: Boutiques, pharmacy, massages, jet skiing, parasailing, aquatic adventures in the ocean (additional $14 fee), banana boat rides, henna tattoos, hair braiding, water hammocks, etc.

#3: The Cabana Beach Club

Being one of the closest beach clubs to the San Miguel area, Cabana Beach Club is perfect for those looking for a place that is easy to reach by bicycle. It is located on the famous Chankanaab Reef, which is great for snorkeling adventures and is ideal for those seeking some privacy in a small cabana. This beach club is known for its’ natural surroundings and tranquility. Each cabana can be booked starting at $125 USD and includes electrical plugs, seating areas, a table, Wi-Fi, access to the beach, guacamole, snorkel gear, towels, and access to Chankanaab Park. A total of six guests are allowed per cabana, and individual access fees are $19 USD. This spot is perfect for families and larger groups looking for a private spot to relax.

Distance from Downtown: 15 minutes by car or 33 minutes by bicycle. Remember to be careful riding in the Cozumel heat after having a full day of fun in the sun!

Other Activities: Professional photo sessions, snorkeling tours, a park to explore, scuba diving, massages, hammocks, showers, bars, etc.

#4: The Money Bar Beach Club

Located on the Dzul-Ha Reef, this newer and smaller beach club offers incredible turquoise-blue water views and plenty of dining options for the entire family. Although entry is free, the Money Bar Beach Club staff do expect you to purchase some of their food and beverages while you are there. This is the best spot for families seeking beach access with basic amenities and food options. There are plenty of fish swimming in the water nearby, making snorkeling a fun experience as well.

This has made it onto my list of the best beach clubs in Cozumel because of its proximity to San Miguel, where I was staying. It also has amazing snorkeling areas, great access to both sunny and shady spots, and no entry fee aside from purchasing either food or a beverage. I found it easy to keep my spending under $15 USD. Considering the cost of a beach chair and umbrella, in addition to food and beverage, and sometimes even parking, it is a good bargain.

Distance from Downtown: 15 minutes by car or 35 minutes by bicycle.

Other Activities: Massages, spa treatments, lounge area, showers, restrooms, free parking, local shows, snorkeling, happy hour.

Note: This beach club has a free entrance making it quite busy.

#5: Playa Palancar Beach Club

During the dry season, this is one of the best beach clubs in Cozumel, Mexico. The Playa Palancar Beach Club features white sand with turquoise waters on one side and lush green palm trees on the other. Day passes are $20 USD and include access to beach chairs, showers, bathrooms, and changing rooms. This is the best bang for your buck! This club is usually one of the less crowded, being so far down on the island. Be sure to check the wind forecast as well; beaches and clubs further south on the island tend to be a bit windier. Oh, and do not forget to check out the coatis!

Distance from Downtown: 27-30 minutes by car or motorbike. I do not recommend riding by bicycle.

Other Activities: Lounge beds ($27 USD), massages, towel rental, lockers, photography service, snorkeling tours, kayaks, banana boats, jet skis, paddle boards, parasailing, scuba diving, shopping, etc.

General Information on Cozumel

Best Time to Visit:

Cozumel is great to visit 365 days a year, but I think the best time is March to early June–after peak season and before the real rainy season begins. Peak season is December-February so expect it to be busy. Rainy and hurricane season is mostly July-November but of course, it can expand into before or after those months. I have been here during March, April, May, June, and July.

How to Get to Cozumel:

  • Flying (the best option): Cozumel has an airport right on the island, located only 3-4 km from downtown San Miguel.

  • Ferry: You can take the 45-minute passenger ferry into Cozumel from Playa del Carmen. This ferry runs every hour with 3 companies running them: Winjet (orange) Xcaret (blue) and Ultramar (yellow). Check the sites for updated schedules and pricing. My ticket was 260 pesos (USD 15).

Mode of Transport in Cozumel:

Taxi, bicycle, motorbike. Cozumel is very walkable and transport is only really needed to tour the entire island or to reach specific beach clubs or beaches that are further away. I took 1 taxi during my time here and it was from the airport. Motorbikes are around $350-450 pesos daily. Bicycles are around 250 pesos.

Where to Stay:

I recommend staying right in San Miguel to be within walking distance of nearly everything you need. The beaches however will be a bit farther by foot or you can opt to rent a motorbike or bicycle.
